Family Tree or Genealogy Report

A family tree is a visual representation of one's ancestors and descendants that links everyone to one or more sets of common ancestors. It serves as a helpful tool for genealogists and descendants to trace their lineage and understand their family connections. KinFolks, uses a genealogy software that offers two options for creating and organizing a family tree: the ahnentafel report and the outline ancestor report.

The ahnentafel report, derived from the German word for "ancestor table," is a specialized report used specifically to list all individuals in the family. It provides a systematic approach to organizing and displaying family history information. Each generation is listed on a separate line, with the oldest generation at the top and the youngest at the bottom.

On the other hand, the Outline Ancestor report presents a more structured approach to organizing the family tree. It begins with a primary individual and lists their parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and so on, generation by generation. However, instead of listing each individual on a separate line, as in the ahnentafel report, the Outline Ancestor report groups individuals together and connects them with lines.

Writing and Editing Family Histories

Listing the names, birth dates and locations of our ancestors is only one part of creating a family tree. They have stories that need to be told. Sometimes those unique and funny, strange, and outrageous tales told at family gatherings have some truth to them. Sometimes there are stories in newspapers and other archives that no one has ever heard.

Writing, editing, and revising family histories require time and effort, but they are essential steps in creating a comprehensive and captivating narrative. By following these guidelines, we can ensure that your family history is accurate, engaging, and memorable for generations to come.

Family History Scrapbook

We will create your family history scrapbook, which complements the completed family tree project. This scrapbook serves as a visual representation of the rich history and legacy passed down from generation to generation.

The scrapbook is designed in the style of a photo album, with each page showcasing a different aspect of your family history. The layout is clean and visually appealing, allowing your family to easily navigate through the pages and enjoy reminiscing.

Pedigree Chart

AdobeStock_352028137.jpeg

We are pleased to offer you one of our additional services: the creation of a pedigree chart that accurately represents your heritage. This document provides a comprehensive visual representation of your ancestral lineage dating back several generations. By understanding the details of your family history, you can gain a deeper understanding of your ancestors and their contributions to your unique identity.

The pedigree chart will include the following information:

  1. Family Members: Names and vital statistics of your ancestors, including their date of birth, date of death, and marriage details if applicable.

  2. Relationships: The chart will display the relationships of each individual, such as parents, children, siblings, and grandparents, to illustrate their familial connections.

  3. Generations: The chart will outline the generations, starting from the most recent one and extending back as far as necessary, to show the overall lineage.

  4. Biological Parents: The pedigree chart will indicate the names of both biological parents, if available, to provide a comprehensive understanding of your genetic makeup.

  5. Additional Information: The chart may include any additional information, such as birthplaces, occupations, or notable achievements, to enhance the understanding of your heritage.

A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.
